Protecting your Peace, How First Looks Creates Relaxing Space

Your Day, Your Comfort.

I have been photographing weddings for a long time, and I can still remember how I was when the first couple asked to do a first look. Whenever I get to try something different from the traditional, I get super excited.

No matter the timeline, I am there to photograph your entire story. But for you, a First Look shifts the gravity of the day and turns a high pressure reveal into a private sanctuary.

First Look shifts the entire gravity of the day

Once the Ceremony is done there is time for some more group photos for people that might not have made it earlier.  That still gives you a majority of your cocktail hour to visit with your guests.

Intentional scheduling is just a small piece of the benefits to first looks, if you want to keep that moment as intimate as possible either to just share it with emotional safety, your reaction is just for the two of you. If emotions can be overwhelming and sharing that with your partner and best friend can help get you past the jitters.

If you have a few people that are truly your support system and have a standby box of tissues, you can always invite a select few to the ‘First Look’, and still keep your safe space sacred. Your support system could include your furry best friend or baby as I refer to them. [Click here for my best advice on making your dogs a part of your celebration.]

The schedule also gives you some freedom to spend time together without being pulled away from the party you spent so much time planning and the people that came to celebrate with you.

If you want to take a romantic stroll through Savannah’s Historic Squares when the lighting is perfect before the midday sun and humidity or enjoy walking down the beach, that time is something we can set aside for you and make it happen.

That is not to say that waiting until the ceremony is the wrong choice for you and can be completely magical.

I have also had couples make the determination to see each other on our initial consultation and some have made it hours before the ceremony, knowing that there was a chance for adjustment just meant two customized timelines. Ultimately, it is your choice and your comfort that matters the most to your wedding day.
